Fees for Advisory Services

Prospective clients sometimes have trouble figuring out why, or how, they should pay someone for investment advisory services.

After all, we're not like some other professionals—the CPA who completes an annual tax return, the physician who performs a physical exam, or the dentist who fills a cavity. We provide investment advisory, consulting, or management as well as account services that are customarily ongoing, yet often fall under clients' radar. For example, your arrangement with us and our service providers, might include a number of the following services:

  • Offering you objective investment advice on socially responsible investing and market conditions
  • Performing expert and professional-level ongoing due diligence on investment funds, managers, and related services
  • Assisting you with your financial plan that can change with a car accident, a death, a birth, a marriage, a divorce, or a hundred other things
  • Helping you control financially counter-productive emotions
  • Keeping you "balanced, yet flexible" in a constantly changing world
  • Educating you about opportunities and risks
  • Motivating you to make difficult decisions
  • Making you aware of consequences under various scenarios
  • Staying current on financial trends and continuing education on your behalf
  • Taking responsibility that no one else wants to take
  • Developing your Investment Policy Statement (IPS) to your specifications
  • Managing tax- efficiency when applicable and requested
  • Rebalancing your portfolio in accordance with your IPS annually or as necessary
  • Offering periodic one- hour meetings to apprise you of the status of your portfolio
  • Disclosure of possible conflicts of interest, if any
  • Disclosure of charges and fees before and during services engagement
  • Shareholder dialog and action coordinated as appropriate to improve corporate practices
  • Voting your shareholder proxies as you would if you had the time and patience
  • Attention to your communicated changing goals or situation
  • Investments receiving the care of a fiduciary
  • Periodic reporting prepared by a third-party to compare against benchmarks
  • And of course, like any good professional, we care about you
